John Seymour, founder of Sweet Chick, grew up in a house with some pretty bland food. However, just outside his front door, were New York City’s diners. The diners were where John really developed his palette by trying some of America’s most delicious food. When John came to the studio, he wanted to share one of these legendary dishes - Fried Chicken and Waffles.
As the story goes, this iconic dish came about after a hungry jazz musician finished a gig and couldn’t decide whether he wanted breakfast or dinner. The chef had leftover fried chicken and waffles in the fridge, so he combined them and the rest is history.
John opened his first Sweet Chick restaurant in Brooklyn in 2013. After conquering the US with five locations, he brought the sensation that is Sweet Chick to London. Just off Oxford Street, the menu is inspired by comfort food loved across America: Biscuits and Gravy, Mac & Cheese and Donut Ice-Cream Sandwich. Sweet Chick is a must-visit for “the best-fried chicken and waffles in the world”.
