I didn’t have any tomato puree or basil so I used chilli and tomato pesto and also some normal green and it gave it a lovely flavour. Great soup!

Have made this several times now and it really does warm the soul! This time I didn’t have basil so added fennel seeds at the beginning with the veg, worked well. I also halved the chilli flakes which was perfect for me.

Added parmesan and used noodles instead of pasta. The wife loves it very much for the upcoming colder days!

Based on the comments, I halved the amount of chilli flakes (so I could add some more if needed). Soup was delicious, makes quite the pan full.

Awesome warming goodness for autumn days 🍂
Tried it without nutritional yeast and used Parmesan instead - it works!

It was a bit spicy for me! Might reduce the chilli flakes next time.

My mum makes a version of this with kidney beans instead of butter beans but I enjoyed this too - especially with fresh basil! I added turmeric, mild chilli powder and garlic powder for more flavour and added healing anti-inflammatory properties.

Makes a nice rich broth, and not too much soup (which is always a problem with me lol). It makes exactly 2litres

I thought the same initially but remember the potato and butter beans. 150g is actually perfect

Hi Suzanne and thanks for the feedback! We recommend using 5 garlic cloves here (we've updated the recipe). Hope you enjoy this one!

Yum! It really did heal me. Only thing is it turned into more of a pasta than a soup over time, so not ideal for batch cooking. But will definitely make again

definitely would need to add more broth after a while due to the pasta soaking up everything
