Mob’s Guinness Chocolate Cake Recipe
This chocolate Guinness cake is deep, damp and decadent while being unbelievably simple. It’s a simple baking recipe made using everyone’s favourite Irish stout. It keeps well for about a week in an airtight container, and you can happily make the cake the day before, wrap in its tin and then ice it before serving.

I'd love to make this gluten free! Would you suggest additions/subtractions if subbing the regular flour for gf flour?

Hi Amy, thanks for reaching out! This cake was developed using plain flour. You can try using a gluten free alternative mix, but we can't advise on the result.

We loved this cake! The Guinness really gives the sponge a rich depth and stops it from being too sweet. The icing pairs with the cake beautifully.

Nice cake recipe! Very interesting method but it works! The cake by itself has that chocolate bitterness you expect + the bitterness of the Guinness. Excellent and malty just as described when paired with the icing. Rich cake that falls apart easily and becomes gummy in the mouth (vs pound cake which stays dry). Very good, would make a gain and rose SO beautifully, didnt fall when cooling. Not too sweet. Icing was just enough to do the whole cake.
