    This was so yummy! I didn't add any of the cheeses as I'm allergic to diary. I replaced the water with 150ml of oat milk to keep it creamy (this also makes it vegan) - I was slightly worried about how it would cook because of a couple of the comments but the Gnocchi was prefect! I only added 1/2 tbsp of marmite as my husband isn't a huge fan, it still tasted great but I reckon it would handle 1 tbsp too. This will be added to our regular tea lists 👏 I've never made chilli oil before and was super happy with how this turned out, it definitely elevated the dish. (I couldn't find the sage leaves in the super market so didn't add these)

    The key thing is you need to add quite a few slugs of boiling water after you've added the squash sauce, and keep stirring till the whole thing turns from claggy to saucy.

    This wasn’t for me I’m afraid. Although I liked the roasted gnocchi, the combination of the sauce and squash pieces and gnocchi made for a very heavy and claggy meal with a too strong marmite/Parmesan taste, and I say that as a huge marmite fan. May W was right to reduce the marmite. My husband ate half his and stopped, I finished mine and it sat in my stomach like clay for hours so it is a filling meal.

    Does the gnocchi not need boiling or is it already cooked?

    Hi Sarah, you don't need to boil the gnocchi as it bakes in the oven. This gives it a really nice texture – crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Enjoy!

    I LOVE this recipe, so comforting and so easy to make! I used chipotle chilli flakes as they’re really smokey and go really well against the sweet butternut squash and tangy cheese/marmite combo. Perfect for miserable autumn nights 🍂

    First post 🫡! Turned it into a bake because I felt like it. Added roasted tomatoes and a fresh chilli to the sauce bake. Also just used a teaspoon of marmite because a tablespoon felt like a bit much. Was really rich but went really well with a side salad. Would definitely make again 👍
