How long does boxed wine last for? A while.

Today, we’re talking about boxed wine. Carbordeaux. Goon. Call it what you want, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The sad thing about boxed wine is that if you ask most people what they think of the stuff, they’ll end up having a pretty serious flashback to a time they gave themselves the worst headache of their lives.

We’re here to let you know that’s thankfully not the case anymore. Or the.. box anymore? Either way, boxed wine is actually a lot better than most people give it credit for – the quality of the boxed wine available has gone through the roof recently – and there’s a number of reasons you should be drinking more of it.

Here’s just three reasons why you should be drinking more boxed wine:

1. Shelf Life

How long does boxed wine last? Well, that depends on how much of a drinker you are but a good boxed wine can stay fresh for up to 6 weeks once opened. When you pour a glass from the box, there’s an airtight seal that stops any air getting in. So every time you’re pouring a glass it’s like drinking from a freshly popped bottle.

2. Carbon Footprint

Seeing as boxed wine is just a cardboard box and a plastic bladder, the carbon footprint is nice and low. Boxed wine has lower carbon emissions than glass bottled wine with far fewer trucks needed to transport the product.

3. Quality

Loads of your fave wines are already available in boxed versions. It might be a different shape, sure, but it’s still the same wine they’re putting in there. If you like it in the bottle, you’ll love it in the bag.

Whether you’re after a post-work sundowner or you’ve got a dinner party coming up and want to ensure you don’t run out of the good stuff, a big old box of wine might be just what you’re after. It’s a cost-effective and convenient way to ensure you’ll never be far from a post-work emergency glass of wine.

What is the best boxed wine, though? That’s a little harder to define. A lot of it will come down to personal taste so our best advice is to try out as many as you can and come out with your own findings. Sounds like pretty arduous research, right? As always: drink responsibly.
