Big news, Mob: we've got a new cookbook coming out. It's called Mob 6. And the aim of Mob 6 is simple. We want to prove that you can cook something special – not just a half-decent dinner but a memorable meal your mates will be raving about for years to come – using just 6 ingredients. It might not sound like a lot of ingredients, but that’s kind of the point. Cooking doesn’t have to be ridiculously complicated or expensive to be delicious.

The book is coming out on September 14th but you can pre-order now from a number of retailers to save yourself some cash in the long run. If you choose to pre-order through Amazon, for example, they offer what they call a best price guarantee. Every recipe in our new cookbook maximises on flavour and provides a fresh, exciting and genuinely innovative example of what you can make from very little. You won’t find any precious, overly complex recipes here – just 6 simple ingredients that, when combined correctly, produce some killer dishes. Don’t let the simplicity fool you: these recipes are anything but basic. We’re talking about dishes that will make your taste buds lose their little minds, like juicy steak with a zesty madras curry butter sauce, crispy-skinned roast chicken with all the trimmings and a simple garlicky gravy and tender pork chops with sweet peaches and fiery padrón peppers.

You don’t need an ingredients list as long as your forearm to make a banging meal. Coming up with the recipes for Mob 6 gave us an opportunity to reassess the way we look at cooking; it’s forced us to think more creatively about ingredients and how to get the most out of the basics. Sometimes that means using shallots three ways in one recipe. Sometimes that means using capers and the brine that comes in the jar. Sometimes that means taking thrifty shortcuts like using pre-made pizza dough or shop-bought jam. While we’ve cut a few corners to help you save time and money, there have been absolutely no compromises when it comes to flavour. The Rules:

Okay, let’s get this out the way before we get endless people writing in about there being more than 6 ingredients in some of the recipes in the cookbook. Yes, there are a very small handful of ingredients that we haven’t counted as part of the 6 ingredients. But if that wasn’t the case then pretty much every recipe in this book would be for some version of salty, peppery, oily bread – and no one wants that, do they? We hope you already have a lot of these ingredients in your kitchen cupboard and we hope you understand why we haven’t included them in the 6. We’re recipe developers, not miracle workers.

What counts:
Literally everything else.

What Are You Waiting For?

There's nothing quite like holding a cookbook in your hands and knowing firsthand about all the time and effort which went into bringing it life. We're all super proud of Mob 6 and the recipes inside of it – a special thanks goes to Saskia Sidey and the rest of the Mob food team for their tireless recipe development. Asking me to choose a favourite dish in Mob 6 would be a bit like getting me to choose my favourite child. But I don't have kids. So, I'm pretty comfortable saying the Sausage + Porcini Paccheri is my favourite recipe in the whole thing. What can I say? I'm a sucker for sausage pasta.

We've been testing the recipes in this bad boy for an extremely long time and you can rest easy with the knowledge that every recipe in this will hit the spot. I know we've got a bad habit of saying that every new cookbook we release is our "best one yet", but now doesn't seem like a good time to kick the habit. Mob 6 is our best cookbook yet.
